European Commission-designate Rumiana Jeleva, was today cleared of any violations by the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice. New Europe broke the story with the original documents late last night.

It remains to be seen whether Jeleva will be confirmed despite the legal clearance. Analysts suggest that the political attack endured by Jeleva is enough for her to potentially seek resignation, despite that her husband, Krasimir Jelev, rejected this idea spoking in an interview for the Bulgarian TV channel bTV today.

Yesterday, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov was quoted as saying that it would not be "tragic" if Jeleva was rejected.
