UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on July 25 that the number of people that have been killed in Syria's civil war has now exceeded 100,000. This is 7,000 more than in June when the UN had said that 93,000 civilians had lost their life in the conflict since March 2011.
More than 1.7 million Syrians have been forced to flee the country and seek shelter in neighbouring countries.
