European food manufacturers can look forward to strengthened trade links to North American markets following the European Parliament’s approval to increase the quota of high quality beef imports from the US and Canada.

The deal increases the volume of high quality beef that can be sold in EU markets exempt from tax to 48,200 tonnes, of which 45,000 tonnes will be brought in from the US,  beginning in the autumn of this year raising the bar from the previous agreement of 20,000 tonnes.
