Polls show tight battle in US presidential election

According to a new CBS News/New York Times poll released on 18 April, Mitt Romney has closed the gap with President Barack Obama.
 
The poll was conducted between last Friday and Tuesday, a few days after  Rick Santorum suspended  his campaign,making Romney the presumptive nominee to take on the president in the fall.

US President Barack Obama, who was visiting Seoul for a nuclear summit and was due to meet his Russian and Chinese counterparts on 26 March, has warned North Korea and Iran about their nuclear programmes.

US President Barack Obama, who was visiting Seoul for a nuclear summit and was due to meet his Russian and Chinese counterparts on 26 March, has warned North Korea and Iran about their nuclear programmes.

Obama, in a direct message to Pyongyang, said that Washington had "no hostile intent" and was ready to take steps to improve relations.
