Egypt's military rulers on 3 may, vowed that this month's presidential election will be fair committed to handing over power to a civilian administration on 1 July.

 

The announcement came a day after deadly clashes that left 11 people died, in an attack on an anti-military protest outside the defence ministry in Cairo.

The President of Sudan has suspended his planned visit to South Sudan with the aim of resolving the countries' disputes over oil and border regions, after clashes erupted between Sudan and South Sudan's armed forces on 26 March.
