Google has officially completed its $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility. The deal is the biggest acquisition for both companies and Google's transition from a search-and-software company to a consumer gadgets maker.
This action comes just days after the companies gained approval for the purchase from the Chinese government and one day after the Commission's Vice President, Joaquin Almunia, gave Google a chance to solve their manipulation problems.

Joaquin Almunia, Vice President of the European Commission responsible for Competition Policy, has demanded Google to change if they want to avoid a penalty for abuse of dominant position.
The EU investigation over Google started on November 2010, after rivals, including Microsoft, accused the company of manipulating search results and promoting its own advertising services while demoting their rivals'.

Iran's Foreign Ministry, Ramin Mehmanparast, threatened to take legal action against Google for dropping the name Persian Gulf from its Google Maps and leaving the waterway between Iran and Arab states nameless.
Ramin Mehmanparast also said, “one of the seditionist acts taken as part of the soft war against the Iranian nation has been Google's shameless act to drop the name 'Persian Gulf'”. "We have put on our agenda to make an official complaint", he added.

Facebook Inc has augmented the price range in Silicon Valley's biggest-ever initial public offering to raise more than $12 billion, giving the No.1 social network a valuation potentially exceeding $100 billion.
The social networking, which announced on 11 May its new App Center, raised the price target range to between $34 and $38 per share in response to strong demand, from $28 to $35.

LG, the South Korean technical giant, is set to branch into the cloud computing market with the beta version of the LG Cloud on 1 May.
This new service will allow users to upload their content to the company’s servers and stream it to all of their devices. They will have access to heir stored photos and videos on smartphones, PCs, smart TVs, and set-top boxes.

Google has been under increased scrutiny because of its privacy practices, and it spent a record $5 million on lobbying Congress between January and March of this year.
This sum is a 240% increase from the amount it spent during the same quarter in 2011, and a 30% more than the last quarter of 2011.
The first-quarter expenses for political persuasion are by far the highest that Google Inc. has rung up for any three-month period since the company opened a lobbying office in Washington seven years ago.

Google’s online storage service, Google Drive, is finally out with the expected 5 gigabytes of free storage.
According to Google, this memory users can make this capacity bigger. For 25 GB, they have to pay $2.49 per month; for 100GB, $4.99 per month; or even 1TB for $49.99 per month. Companies can increase the memory in a maximum of 16TB.
Google Drive has launched to compete directly with other storage services in the “cloud” computing. Dropbox, SkyDrive and Box are leading the market at this moment.

Transparency and Internet freedom is being threatened by the rise of Facebook and government attempts to control access, according to Sergey Birn, co-founder of Google.
In an interview with UK newspaper The Guardian, he said the principles of openness and universal access that underpinned the creation of the internet three decades ago are facing their greatest ever threat. He blames Apple and, overall, Facebook of attempting to erode web freedoms.
