On 18 April, the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus ratified an intergovernmental agreement with Russia governing the setting of prices for supplies of natural gas to the country and its trans-shipment via Belarusian pipelines.

The price of petrol at the petrol station is soaring. One litre of Euro95 averaged €1.776 in March 2012. With a price difference of 10 cents per litre, self-service stations were considerably cheaper than motorway service stations, Statistics Netherlands reported.

The highest price for Euro95 is paid at filling stations along the motorways. Consumers paid €73 in March 2012 for 40 litres of Euro95 at motorway service stations versus just over €69 in self-service stations.

VOULIAGMENI, Greece - The Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) can provide gas to the whole region through other interconnectors, Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) Executive Director Jordan Georgiev told New Europe on 28 March. He said the project aims to be ready to transport gas in 2014. “It can actually be for the whole region. It’s not absolutely linked to Bulgaria,” Georgiev said on the sidelines of an energy conference at a resort near Athens. Bulgaria is 90% dependent on Russian gas.

Car fuel cost half as much in 2002 than these days, a motorists’ organisation has pointed out.

Arbo announced that drivers had to fork out around €0.72 for one litre of diesel petrol 10 years ago. The same amount of the fuel cost €1.42 on average yesterday, the association of drivers explained. Arbo also said statistics for the price development of Eurosuper petrol were similar (2002: €0.85; 2012: €1.42).
