World Bank, Uzbekistan deepentheir ties

10 January 2010 - Issue : 868

The World Bank Country Manager in Uzbekistan Loup Brefort recently summarized the results of 2009 and spoke on the outcomes of the World Bank activities in Uzbekistan, Uzbekreport.com reported. He stressed that 2009 was abundant in events all over the world because of the global financial crisis, but the situation in Uzbekistan has been much better than in many other countries. He noted that ties between the World Bank and the government of Uzbekistan have reached new levels of cooperation and positive results. He added that in eight months of 2009 the World Bank Board of Directors has approved three new projects worth €150 million. These are projects in the sphere of education, sanitary, irrigation and agriculture, and we are very pleased with those results.
