Finnish media group Sanoma on Friday reported its July-to-September pretax profit falling to about €67 million from some €85 million in the year-ago period. Net sales fell to about €701 million from about €770 million. As the operating environment continues to change, we are preparing ourselves for the future and are ready to invest further in developing our operations: renewing our products and services, developing our concepts and creating new initiatives, Hannu Syrjδnen, the managing director of Sanoma, said in a statement. At the same time, we are reshaping our operations by closing down businesses that are no longer meeting our set targets. These actions, together with other restructuring expenses, are having a visible impact on our result for the second half of 2009.
