Iran in on power plant project
Tajik Ambassador to Tehran, Ramazan Mirzayev recently invited Iran to participate in a consortium to build a huge hydroelectric power plant project in the Central Asian country. Citing Iran’s expertise in this field, he added that Iran has the capabilities for the project, Asia-Plus reported. Construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant near the capital Dushanbe, started before Tajikistan declared its independence from the former Soviet Union while 40 percent of the project was completed at the time. With 3.6 gigawatt of electricity production, the plant was to become the largest in Central Asia.
