Iceland and Indonesia to cooperate on energy
Iceland’s Minister of Industry Ossur Skarphedinsson and Indonesia’s Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Indonesia’s Minister for Energy and Mining recently signed a cooperation agreement in Indonesia on geothermal energy, IcelandReview reported. Under the terms of the agreement, both countries will collaborate in training, research, feasibility studies and drilling for harnessing geothermal energy. Skarphedinsson has also met Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and other high-ranking officials to discuss the cooperation between the Indonesian energy company Pertamina and Reykjavik Energy Invest (REI). Iceland and Indonesia are also interested in cooperating with Icelanders on aluminum production and deepocean fishing, added Skarphedinsson.
