G8 officials call for clean energy
Top world energy officials meeting in Rome on May 25, pledged to promote global economic recovery through energy investments, including boosting development of “cleaner” alternatives to fossil fuels such as oil and coal. Representatives from the Group of Eight (G8) most industrialised nations, in a joint statement, also urged for the adoption of a “fair” price for oil to combat speculation related to price volatility.
