Food products´ prices to drop by up to 30%
The law on trade in food products might result in declines in their prices of up to 30 percent, Agriculture Minister Ilie Sarbu said on September 22, Romanian Times reported. The ministry’s intention is to make prices go down. Specialists said prices might fall by 30 percent in a few months, Sarbu said. The draft law on trade in food products was approved by the Chamber of Deputies previous week and awaits the president’s approval. Sarbu said there were things that could be corrected, but the law, which has been criticized by retailers, was not abusive. I believe what we’ve done is neither abusive nor a disaster, Sarbu said, adding that the president would approve the draft. According to the normative act, traders are not allowed to ask suppliers to pay for services that are not directly linked to sales operations. |
