In 2009 425 enterprises were set up in Grodno, Grodno Vice Mayor Alexander Sivtsov told BelTA.
The new companies created around 3,000 jobs, with the total number of jobs up by 8,040 in Grodno last year.
Summing up last year’s social and economic development of Grodno, Alexander Sivtsov said that the city reached 9 out of 13 forecast goals. The industrial output increased by 2%, consumer goods output 6.3%, retail trade 6.3%.
In 2009 Grodno’s industrial output amounted to Br4.6 trillion in actual prices. Besides, 38 out of 79 industrial enterprises increased their turnout, with 14 of them beefing up the output by 15% and more. The production of polyether cord fabric went up by almost 200%, biodiesel fuel 140%, window and door frames 90%, polyamides, ferrous concrete and goods made of it, sawn lumber 11%. Electricity generation increased by more than 60%. In 2009 net profit of Grodno companies amounted to Br439 billion. The average profitability stood at 9.6%. The consumer goods turnout totaled Br1.7 trillion. The output of non-alcoholic beverages shot up by 75%, output of fruit juices 44%, hosiery 36%, flour 30%, tinned food 27%, cereal products 14%. Consumption per capita averaged Br7 million in Grodno in 2009.
