France is ready to boost economic cooperation with Belarus taking into account the consequences of the global financial crisis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Belarus Mireille Musso told a press conference in Minsk on 9 December. In her words, Belarus-France economic cooperation doubled in 2008. Today the indices of the mutual trade have reduced due to the crisis. We need to make conclusions and develop cooperation under new conditions, Mireille Musso said. She believes that the situation will be better next year and we will be able to reach the relations we had in 2008. The French Ambassador said that this year was rich in bilateral economic contacts and projects. In particular, a representative delegation of MEDEF International, the association of the French companies, headed by Philippe Citerne, co-CEO of Societe Generale, visited Minsk in January. According to Mireille Musso, the delegation consisted of top officials of thirty largest companies of France. The visit was efficient and it gave an impetus to the development of further Belarusian-French economic relations, the Ambassador said.
