The beautiful city of Copenhagen will be during several days the Capital of the World. Politicians, professors, entrepreneurs, all the kinds of experts will speak about the challenges of Climate Changes for the New World we need and we want. In a time of uncertainty and uncontrolled global financial crisis, the Leaders of the World must focus more and more their attention on launching the basis for a New Competitiveness Strategy centered in the drivers of high growth rate and civil society capacity of creating and developing quality of life combined with new ways of value.
The basis for this New Competitiveness Strategy must be clear:
Develop active policies towards the effective reduction of CO2 by the different economic and social actors;
Incorporate the climate and energy factors as the basis for new public and entrepreneurial polices towards the creation of value;
Implement an Action Plan for a global consultation through the different stakeholders about the sense of urgency of a new climate and energy order;
Enable the States to progressively eliminate obstacles to investments that give priority to new climate and energy innovations;
The launching of some Programs and Institutes in America and Europe specially dedicated to these matters, is a good example of this new strategic vision for a new Agenda in Climate Change. But it´s not enough. It must be effectively complemented with an active participation of policymakers in disseminating the new message for the future.
That´s why Copenhagen is so important. We hope that the Leaders of the World that will meet during these several days are able to discuss and find the best solutions for such an important and strategic challenge. This is the Copenhagen Effect – the capacity of belief in a New Order that is the future of all of us and that is starting to be a reality already today.
