Azeri-French delegates discuss economic development
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev recently welcomed the delegation of the Movement of the French Enterprises (MEDEF). The head of state informed the delegation about the ongoing processes of economic development in Azerbaijan, Trend news agency reported. According to him, France and Azerbaijan enjoyed good economic relations for long years, French companies are successfully operating in the country. President said Azerbaijan’s economy was developing rapidly over the last few years, the country had recently been leader in the world for the economic growth rate. The President recalled his meetings with representatives of MEDEF in France, and described the talks as effective. Aliyev said Azerbaijan was holding one of the leading places for the direct investment per capita. He said, Azerbaijan has led the world in terms of the economic development rate. We have considerably diversified our economy in the last few years. Ensuring competitiveness of the economy is among key priorities for us. President noted that the fall of oil price had not influenced the economic development of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has the image of a country protecting foreign investments, President said and added that French companies could take an active part in a number of projects in the country. The solid waste incineration plant that has been founded recently is a good example for it. This plant will help improve the ecological situation in the capital, he said. Aliyev said he is confident that French companies would participate in various tenders in Azerbaijan. |
