Ankara, Tehran to promote economic, political ties
Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul and Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discussed regional and bilateral issues and called for expansion of the two countries cooperation and ties. Gul emphasized Iran and Turkey must promote economic and political cooperation. The two leaders met before the 25th session of the COMCEC (the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference) in Istanbul. For his part, Ahmadinejad described the mounting ties of the two countries satisfactory and listed trade, transportation, energy and investment among the ways to broaden cooperation. He also called for expansion of Islamic countries economic ties. Ahmadinejad also met Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Endogen. The two countries enjoy mutual interests, the Iranian leader said, adding Iran has no border for expansion of ties. |
