Andrus Ansip expressed support to Montenegro’s aspirations in acceding to NATO.
Estonia supports giving to Montenegro the NATO Membership Action Plan during the meeting of the alliance’s ministers of foreign affairs that will take place in December we value and recognise your strong political willingness and clear actions in your country’s Euro-Atlantic integration, said Ilves to the head of State of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic who is on a State visit to Estonia.
The Estonian President praised Montenegro for the decision to send to NATO’s operation in Afghanistan military medics and the country’s plan to participate in future in the operation with an infantry unit as well. Ilves also expressed full support for Montenegro’s integration with the European Union.
Ansip stated that Estonia values Montenegro’s willingness to continue reforms. Ansip emphasised that structural reforms are particularly important for the country itself and it will also contribute to Montenegro’s integration with the European Union and NATO. Estonia’s Minister of Defense
Jaak Aaviksoo also met with Vujanovic. He also stated that Estonia continues to support Montenegro’s accession to NATO and to the EU. He also stated that representatives of Montenegro are welcome to come and study in the Baltic Defense College that is situated in Tartu.
