Kyprianou committed to solving Cyprus problem
On the sidelines of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council meeting in Brussels, Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou met with other important officials. On March 10, he met with British Foreign Minister David Miliband. In the framework of the meeting with Miliband, which was conducted in a very friendly atmosphere, Kyprianou referred to the recent developments in the Cyprus problem and underlined the firm commitment to finding a just, viable and functional solution, it was reported. Kyprianou also briefed his British counterpart on the main positions of Cyprus regarding the July 8th Agreement and stressed that the Annan plan cannot be at the negotiating table anymore. He added that the Greek Cypriot side does not accept the “parthenogenesis” concept. Kyprianou and Miliband underlined their wish to improve relations between Cyprus and Britain and agreed to have a more thorough discussion at the meeting, which is scheduled to take place in London soon. While in Brussels, Kyprianou also met with EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana. |
