Fico is still the man for his countrymen - #1
The latest poll carried out by the Statistics Office’s UVVM agency found that Prime Minister and Smer-SD chairman Robert Fico is still Slovakia’s most trusted politician, with a rating of 37.8 percent, up from 35 percent in the previous poll in late January. Of the 1,072 Slovaks surveyed in early February, 14 percent chose co-ruling Slovak National Party (SNS) chairman Jan Slota, who was down from 15.7 percent from a month earlier. President Ivan Gasparovic was ranked third on 13.5 percent, down from 18.8 percent in January. Interior Minister and Smer- SD vice-chairman Robert Kalinak was fourth on 10.9 percent, followed by co-ruling LS-HZDS party chairman Vladimir Meciar with nine percent, and opposition SDKU-DS vicechair and former labour minister Iveta Radicova on 5.7 percent. Some 5.5 percent said that they trust SDKU-DS chairman and former premier Mikulas Dzurinda. He was followed by ethnic-Hungarian SMK MP and former party leader Bela Bugar on 4.5 percent, SDKU vice-chair and former finance minister Ivan Miklos on 3.6 percent, and Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) leader Pavol Hrusovsky on 3.4 percent. The respondents were asked to name three politicians that they trust without being presented with any list of names to choose from. As many as 24 percent said that they don’t trust any politicians, up from 23.1 percent a month earlier. |
