Diversity arrives in Barcelona

The Civil Rights Department of the City of Barcelona plans to organise a Diversity Day this coming Monday. It is expected that more than 800 young people and various organisations engaged with anti-discrimination will come together on 12 November to take part in the numerous activities devoted to the topic of diversity.

Diversity Day aims at educating young people about fundamental rights, raising awareness of their right not to be discriminated against, as well as explaining the many benefits of diversity.

The event is strongly supported by the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) of the European Union (EU) which will be present with its own stance.

Diversity Day targets, in particular, students between 12 and 18 years old through games, workshops and other activities. Nevertheless, it is also an awareness-raising which tries to promote fundamental rights in general.

The events will be divided on two shifts-between 9 and 11 in the morning and between 11:30 and 13:30 in the afternoon. Diversity Day is not new to Barceloneses as its previous editions took place in three consecutive years- 2009, 2010 and 2011.

The registration is free of deadline and more information on the activities on 12 November can be found in the detailed programme here or on the website of the event.
