Anonymous attacks pedophile websites
The hacktivist group Anonymous has launched a new action called Operation PedoChat (#OpPedoChat) to eliminate pedophile sites all over the world. They had detected over 100 web pages and are calling for citizens' help to take down more sites during the coming weeks.
The operation started on 7 July and, despite some sites have already returned, 85 are still down. The posted information includes the details of hundreds of pedophiles (both users and administrators of these websites) as well as e-mails between them.
“Child pornography is frequently traded and even innocent pictures of random children (at the beach, on a playground, etc) are publicly fantasized about. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated”, they said.
This is the second time Anonymous attacks child pornography. In October 2011, as part of Operation Darknet, the group took down 40 pedophilia-sharing websites and exposed more than 1,500 pedophile's names.
“WE Anonymous aim to diminish if not eradicate this plague from the Internet”, they said about this new action, which seems to be more important for the organisation, because they translated their message into French, German, Greek, and Irish, and more translations are coming.
Likewise, Anonymous called people to participate in the operation, “YOU are Anonymous as well. YOU can get off your ass and help. Spread the word to fellow Anons, to the press, and encourage them to do the same.”
